Kate D. Scheftic, 104, of Lower Burrell died Friday (Feb. 27, 2004) at Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell.

Born Jan. 22, 1900, in Eleanora, Jefferson County, she lived in the Valley since 1925.

Mrs. Scheftic was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, and the Ladies Guild of the church.

Survivors include a son, Thomas E. (Marion) Scheftic of Lower Burrell, with whom she lived; 11 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Allen of DuBois.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, twins, Thomas M. and Terrance P. Scheftic, John E. Sheftic, Michael J. Scheftic, Carol A. Scheftic, and Mrs. Mary Margaret (David) Scarano; and a daughter-in-law, Lillian Egli Scheftic of Dania, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael James Scheftic; a son, Harold E. Scheftic; a granddaughter, Catherine Cariss; her parents, Nicholas and Thecla Yurash Dobrosky; three brothers, Joseph, Christy and Michael Dobrosky; and four sisters, Ann Buhite, Marie Polanosky, Margaret Walko and Pearl Tokash.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURREL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church. The Ladies Guild will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home to conduct services. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
