BERTHA BELL SNODGRASS
May 14, 1930 ~ April 11, 2017

Bertha Bell Moore Snodgrass, age 86, of Wana, WV, passed away at 9am on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was born May 14, 1930, at Seven Pines, WV, the daughter of the late Foster L. and Minnie Bell Batson Moore.

Bertha is survived by her daughters, Donna P. (Kenneth W.) Efaw of Wana, WV, Virginia L. (Nelson Sr.) Barr of Wana, WV, Claudell Snodgrass of Elyria, OH, and Kandy (Ronnie) Starkey of Wheeling, WV; 2 grandchildren, Donald A. Efaw and Amy of Wana, WV and Nelson E. Barr Jr. of Wana, WV; 2 great-grandsons, Jonathan Efaw of Wana, WV and Emily B. Efaw of Wana, WV; many nieces and nephews who she was lovingly known to them as “Aunt Bee-Bee”; and a brother-in-law, Albert Muto of Fairmont, WV.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Lee Higginbotham who died Dec. 19, 1970, her second husband, Walter Wayne Snodgrass who died Aug. 7, 1996, and her third husband, Jim Longwell who died June 2, 2005; siblings, Edgar Moore, Donley Moore, Loretta Williams, Naomi Wyckoff, Gay Tanner, Ray Moore, and Alberta Muto who was Bertha’s twin sister.

Bertha was a member of the Seven Pines Church, and also attended the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Hundred. She was a teacher’s aide at Mannington Elementary School, and was a homemaker most of her life who was well-known for her homemade noodles. She was the most loving person you would ever meet. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life. Through her journey of Alzheimer’s, she still remembered who Jesus is.

Words cannot express the loving and compassionate care that was shown to her during her year stay at Sundale. They forever left an imprint of love on our hearts. The Family would like to thank her caregivers Joy Kerr and Kelli Glasscock. Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, WV on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 3:30-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00am with Pastor Dennis Howard officiating. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
