Alberta Muto was a loving, generous, self sacrificing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. On Friday (June 20, 2008) she went to sleep in the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

Alberta touched the hearts and lives of many whose paths she crossed with her loving personality. She was always ready to reach a hand out to those in need.

For many years, Alberta served in the capacity of the Women's Ministry at her local church, the Christian and Missionary Alliance. She served as a deaconess and was very active in her church and was also the proud "church grandmother" to many who attended there. She was also the Sunday School Secretary and treasurer for the Alliance Women. She was a 1948 graduate of Mannington High School. She worked at Westinghouse, where she met her loving husband and also managed the drapery department at Stone and Thomas.

A "Servant's Heart" does not even begin to describe Alberta. Doing for others is what she thrived on and up until the very end, her main concern was the well-being of the many friends and family at her side. There have been countless lives touched by Alberta's presence and all who had the great privilege of knowing her are better for it.

As well as family, Alberta leaves behind a multitude of memories which took place around her kitchen table. She welcomed everyone and served them as if they were royalty. Homemade spaghetti and meatballs, baked steak and creamed lima beans were just a few staples in the Muto family home.

Born May 14, 1930, she was the seventh of eight children as well as a beloved twin. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Albert Muto; two children, Nieta Lambert and husband Stan Lambert of Fairmont, Ben Muto and wife Patti Muto of Jackson, Mich. She has four grandchildren, Erin Oldaker and her husband John, Lindsay Muto, James Muto and Andrew Muto. She was the great grandmother of Braeden and Kyla Oldaker and the twin sister of Bertha Snodgrass. Her pride and joy was the family she so treasured and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Foster Lee and Minnie Belle Batson Moore and brothers and sisters Edgar Moore, Loretta Williams, Naomi Wyckoff, Donley Moore, Gay Ott and Ray Moore.

The family would like to invite all to celebrate the life of Alberta Muto from 3 - 9 p.m. Sunday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont and from 12 - 1 p.m. Monday at the Fairmont Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 801 East Park Avenue, Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Larry Hissom and Pastor and son-in-law Stan Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.

The family would like to thank Fairmont General Hospital ICU nurses Sandy Knotts, Anita Valentine and Bill; ER nurses Anne Gump; Ultrasound nurse Colleen Casteel and ICU nurse manager Carol for arranging the courtesy cart. Special thanks for your loving care Dr. Azar and staff, Dr. Katragadda and Dr. Devabhakthuni. The family would like to offer special thanks to her devoted friend, "one of the best" Patty Drummond.
