Florence HEFFERNEN
20OCT1900.WI-JUL1984 daughter of Patrick HEFFERNEN and Clara PETERSON.

She married 1923.Our Lady of Perpetual Help.EverettSnohomishWA ROY PICKETT(1902-1982 s/o Solista/Celeste & Anna TONG). Roy worked as a shop foreman for the Great Northern Railroad.

Sister Mary AUSTIN described Roy and Florence thus: "…services, their home and incomes were shared with family, friends and people within the larger community. Roy and Florence took Emmett "Larry" age ten and William "Bill" (HEFFERNEN) age six into their home, raised and educated them as sons … In her final years Aunt Kate(Catherine HEFFERNEN-MOORE) was loved and cared for.

During the Depression of the 1930's, Roy frequently helped with repairs and renovation on the school and convent for Franciscan Sisters(Order serving Klamath Falls OR). And Florence together with other women collected truck loads of produce from local farmers to supplement the food of the boarding students and the Sisters. Before Dominican Sisters were permitted to drive cars, both Roy and Florence chauffeured them short and long distances frequently. Beautiful hand hooked rugs increased the fund supporting retired Dominican Sisters. Sacred Heart & Pius X parish devotions and social events were attended and supported financially …"
