Known to her friends as “Pat”, she was born July 12, 1927 in Hazelhurst, MS. She was a graduate of Hazelhurst High School and Copiah Linclon Junior College. In 1951, she was employed as a flight attendant with American Airlines and was based in Chicago, Memphis, and Dallas. During her years with American, she discovered a love of travel and also met her future husband, who was in the Navy at the time.

In 1954 she married A.G. Abide, Jr. and together they owned and managed Abide’s Ladies Apparel in Greenwood for 40 years. Pat was involved in many church and civic activities. She was a lifetime member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary and a past member of Lebonte Club, Town and Country Garden Club and an emeritus member of Altrusa International. She was an active member of Four Seasons Garden Club, an active volunteer for Cottonlandia museum for 14 years and also served on the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

She was predeceased by her parents and also a brother who died in infancy, her husband Albert George Abide, Jr., her son, Albert George Abide, III of Greenwood; her sister Billie Patrick Luttrell of Jackson and her great granddaughter Edith Pierce Williams of Los Angeles, CA.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Abide Williams and husband Alan, of Columbus; three grandchildren, Sarah-Thorne Williams Davis and husband Ryan of Birmingham, AL, Patrick Albert Williams and wife Anna of Los Angeles, CA, Kathleen Williams Barnes and husband Christian of Orange, CA, and four great grandchildren, Harper and Wilson Davis of Birmingham and Rowan and Pierce Williams of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Patrick Crow of Brandon, and Patricia Patrick Friedman of Lebanon, TN, as well as her many nieces and nephews whom she truly adored and their love was returned to her immensely.

Pat will be remembered as a kind and compassionate friend to many. She spread the love of friendship everywhere she went and leaves behind a host of loving friends. All who were blessed to have called her friend may rest in the knowledge that this day she rejoices with the ones who have gone before her, awaits those of us who must wait to see her again and basks in the peace that comes with the presence of the Lord.

Burial will follow the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.
