'Register of Cohansey Seventh Day Baptist Church, Shiloh, New Jersey, 1737 - 1830', Page 64 says about Jonathan Davis: "he was not of the same family with his predecsor (sic), but son of the Rev. David Davis that lives at Newark in Delware (sic) state where he was born July 7th, 1734: he was called to the ministry and ordained in this church Nov. 13, 1768 died in the care thereof July 23, 1785 and was buried in said graveyard. he marryed (sic) Margret Bond of Nottingham by whom he had children Ann, Samuel, David, Ammi, Sarah, Richard and John: Richard and John are single; the rest are married into the Ayars, Shepperd, Dunn, Davis and Thomas Families and have raised him 16 grandchildren. Mr. Davis was a man of good sence (sic), he was founder of Shiloh village, and the person that gave it that name--"
