who died December 6, 1796 in the 71st
year of his Age.
EPITATH:

Capt. Moses AYRES served in the French and Indian War, but his title was only for service in the Militia. His name is on the roster of Capt. Nathaniel Woolcott's company that marched Aug 9, 1757, to the relief of Col Monroe at Ticonderoga. News of the peril of the troops reached Brookfield, but before relief could reach the, Col Monroe had surrendered to Montcalm. Finding themselves too late to be of service, the Brookfield men returned to their homes, having been out but 16 days.
