An Albany hairdresser and barber, Henry C. Currier, 35, was killed at 1:30 a.m. today when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his car and struck an abutment of an overpass on the Northway near Vischers Ferry exit in the Town of Half-moon.

Mr. Currier had lived at 1064 Madison Avenue the last three years, but moved Wednesday without leaving a forwarding address, according to Mrs. Lena Gerber, landlady.

Saratoga County Corner Harold L. Hall said Mr. Currier’s southbound car crossed over three lanes before hitting the abutment. There were no skid marks or other indication the brakes had been applied. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A verdict of accidental death from multiple injuries was issued.

According to former neighbors at the Madison Avenue address. Mr. Currier suffered a broken neck and other serious injuries in an automobile accident two years ago.

Mr. Currier a native of New England, hd lived alone the last few months since his wife returned to Providence, R. I. He decided to take a smaller place and moved on Nov. 1, neighbors said.

Mr. Currier had worked in hairdressing establishments and barber shops in the Pine Hills area [which is the area of Madison Ave.] the last three years.

Coroner Hall said is attempting to locate relatives in Providence and directed removal of the body to Lattimore Funeral Home, Ballston Spa.
