Farmer and homemaker Juanita Alexander, 83, of Puryear died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Chad Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Foundry Hill Baptist Cemetery near Puryear.

Pallbearers will be Donald and Derrick Paschall, Kevin, Scott and Brian Aldridge and Ryan Merrell.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday.

Born March 14, 1927, in the Whitlock community, she was a daughter of the late James Hubert and Bertha Burns Nance.

She was married on July 9, 1955, to Richard Lee Alexander, who died March 30, 2002.

Alexander was a member of Puryear Church of Christ. She attended school in Whitlock and later went to Puryear. A family member said she enjoyed crafts, ceramics and gardening.

She leaves several nieces and nephews; and special friends: James and Betty Thompson.

She also was preceded by two sisters: Frances Boden and Hazel Nance; and one brother: Lavern Nance.
