DAISY STURGEON-MOSS, 83, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 6:47 A.M. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Porter, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St. in Arcola, IL. Pastor Kevin Wolf will officiate. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
Daisy was born on January 10, 1934 in Mattoon, IL. She was a daughter of Robert L and Marion F. (Newman) Morgan. She married Floyd Max Toops on March 17, 1949 in Greenup, IL; he passed away on May 11, 2001. She later married Mel Moss on June 20, 2003 in Mattoon, IL; he passed away on November 22, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Jean Hanly and her husband Chris of Porter, TX, and Sheila Kay Cortians of Missouri City, TX; a granddaughter that she raised: Marcella Renae Allmon of Keller, TX; two sisters, Merna Gilbert of Charleston, IL and Linda Gannaway and her husband Jeff of Windsor, IL; two brothers, Stanley Morgan and his wife Jan of Neoga, IL and Ron Morgan of Hot Springs, TX; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, a special friend, Louise Garrett and a special caregiver, Sharon Packard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons: Stephen Max Toops and Danny Joe Toops; one sister: Leta Oakley; two grandsons: James Paul Brazzell and Robert Eugene Brazzell.
Daisy attended school in Charleston IL and worked various jobs while raising her children.
Daisy lived in Florida for 11 years, and then moved to Texas for 29 years and she spent her last 14 years in Mattoon, IL. She enjoyed spending time visiting her children in Texas.
She was a member of the Eagles Club in Mattoon and the Logos Christian Church of Mattoon, IL.
Daisy was a homemaker, she loved spending time at the Douglas-Hart Nature Center, giving back to her community and loved all animals, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
