Krueger, Barbara J.

Barbara J. Krueger, age 86, was called early Wednesday morning, April 25, 2017 to be reunited with her husband and the love of her life who she has missed for 36 years.

The former Barbara J. Berkedal was born on July 3, 1930 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Olaf and Myrtle (Gunderson) Berkedal. She graduated with the class of 1948 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and also attended and graduated from Beauty School in Green Bay. On June 21, 1952 Barb married Wilfred "Bud" Krueger in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1981.

Barb was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She had an undeniably strong faith and it resonated in her daily under takings. She contributed to the church choir with her beautiful alto voice for 80 years, and also enjoyed the many years she attended Bible Study at First Lutheran Church. She also brought her cooking talent to church by planning and serving funeral luncheons for 30 years. She loved having ice cream with her care-giver and friend Cheryl Burke, her favorite flavor, butter pecan. Barb and her family enjoyed almost 60 years at the family's cottage at Whispering Sands Resort on Sand Bay, where she made many more friends and created wonderful memories. Barb was an incredible cook and many holidays and celebrations found her in the kitchen preparing a fabulous meal with a smile on her face.

Barbara shared a sweet smile with everyone she met. She handled her many health issues with grace and courage. Barb was considered by those she encountered to be kind, considerate and caring.

She is survived by her four children: Bob (Kristine Rebman) Krueger, Green Bay; Dennis (Lyn Manton) Krueger, Dillon, CO; Steve (Ann Dickrell) Krueger, Green Bay; Ann (Richard Auth) Krueger-Auth, Manitowoc; twelve grandchildren: Chester Krueger; Jakob Krueger; Benjamin Auth; Jennalie (Chris Stark) Auth; Erika (Will Menning) Auth; Michael (Stacey) Renkens; Wendi (Joe Soquet) Renkens; Jesse Manton; Tessa Manton; Tucker Manton; Deana (Chris Yates) Walsh; Seth (Lindsey) Walsh; seven great-grandchildren: Brogan; Hagen; Mason; McKenzie; Reece; Addison; Reagan; one brother: James Berkedal; one sister: Carol Carlson; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Violet (Raphel) Rusch; Harriet (Wendell) Knapp; her dog: Tia, many friends, especially Joan and Warden "Greenie" Grun, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Olaf & Myrtle Berkedal; her husband: Wilfred "Bud" Krueger; mother-in-law and Father in-law: Clarence and Myrtle Krueger; brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Marilyn) Berkedal; four infant brothers: John Berkedal; Olaf Berkedal; Norman Berkedal; Donald Berkedal; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Robert Carlson; Audrey (Lawrence) Jandrey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick and Rev. David Berkedal will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Barbara's name. Because of Barbara's many complicated heart issues and her passion for music funds will be split to the Heart Association and the First Lutheran Church music fund. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com

The family would like to thank Cheryl Burke, Barb's caregiver who provided her with the utmost loving care which allowed her to remain living in her daughter and sons-in-law home for many years. Also, Dr. Michael Rosenberg and his staff for their most compassionate, extraordinary care they provided to her complicated heart conditions, and a special thank you to Tammy and the entire staff at Harbor View Assisted Living for the loving, compassionate care anyone could ever ask for.
