William Alexander was born about 1813. According to a family tree, he may have been born on February 12, 1813. His parents were John and Elizabeth Gould Alexander.

He married Miriam A. Green, at an unknown date and had one son, Robert Alexander.

He died on February 14, 1874, in Baltimore, Maryland.

OBITUARY: THE FUNERAL

The funeral of Judge Alexander took place at 1 P.M. yesterday [February 17, 1874] from St Paul's church, on Charles street. The body of the deceased arrived at the church about 12:30 P.M. from his late residence in Baltimore county, with the relatives of the deceased in two or three carriages. The pall-bearers were four members of the commandery of Knights Templar and two members of King David's Lodge of Masons, Frederick Knapp and Frederick Fige. There was also present a deputation of Knights Templar, about fifteen in number. The judges of the courts of the city and a number of members of the bar were also present. As the coffin was borne into the church a lady placed upon the lid a beautiful cross of white natural flowers. The funeral services were read by Rev. J. S. Hodges, rector of St. Paul's church, assisted by Rev. Mr. Hoff, of Towsontown. At the close of the services the remains of the deceased were taken to the Greenmount cemetery, where they were deposited in the family lot. The funeral was conducted by Messrs. Hughes and Dennis, 65 Broadway.
