Old Fort- Donna Sue Morris Chandler, age 72, of Vineyard Road, entered into the arms of the angels on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

Mrs. Chandler was born March 30, 1945 in Buncombe County to the late Richard Morris and the late Minnie Clubb Blankenship.

She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and had made her home in McDowell County since 2013. Mrs. Chandler had been employed in the motel-hotel industry for several dedicated years. When remembering Donna, we think of her love of raising horses and also her pot bellied pigs. She was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to fish and the joy of traveling brought her much happiness. Mrs. Chandler was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Asheville. We cherish the precious memories that each of us hold in our hearts of our beloved Donna and she will never ever be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Chandler; a special companion, George North; sisters, Dorothea Allen and Claudia Rice and a special brother-in-law, J.D. Chandler.

Surviving are her children, Rachel Denise Griffin and Terry Griffin of Old Fort, Rebecca Corley and James Corley of Alexander, R.D. Chandler and Tina Hudgins of the Big Sandy Mush Community, Ronald Chandler of Princeton, West Virginia and Robby Chandler and Jessica Chandler of Marion; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Bowman-Rector Cemetery in Marshall, NC.
