Carolyn Scarlett Cate, age 71, of Knoxville, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father unexpectedly on May 5, 2017 in Knoxville.
Carolyn was born on August 14, 1945 in Sevier County. She married James Harold Cate in 1962. She loved working with people with special needs. She was also an active and dedicated member of Marbledale Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Emert Scarlett; son, Daryl; and siblings, Ruby, Emert Jr., and Grace.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, J. Harold Cate; children, Kathy and Stacy (Tammy); grandchildren, Tyler, Carole, Kinslee, Caleb, Kevin, Alayna, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Maxton, Lilly, Sadie and Mia; siblings, Christine, Brenda, Inez, George, Ruth, Beulah; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral service 7:00 PM Monday, May 8, 2017 at Marbledale Baptist Church, 5935 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914, with Rev. Randy Troutman officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Tuesday in Cate Cemetery.
