Mrs. Russel Blakely of St. Paul, died at Thomasville, Georgia on March 28, 1892. She was a daughter of the late John P. Sheldon an old resident of Willow Springs and a sister of Hon. T.H. Sheldon now occupying the old home and Mrs. H.H. Hawley of Chicago.
Mrs. Blakeley was born in Detroit, Michigan, Oct. 26, 1831, moved with her fathers family to Darlington in 1833 and to the old Sheldon homestead in 1835 where she lived until she was married to Capt. Blakely Dec. 9, 1851. After a few years residence in Galena she moved to St. Paul where she has since resided.
About November last she was attacked with the disease which finally proved fatal, and about six weeks prior to her death she was taken to Georgia in the hope that the warmer climate of that state, she might regain her health but all vain, and at the date above mentiond she sweetly, and peacefully fell asleep in Jesus. Her remains were taken to St. Paul for interment.
