Wiley Leverett. Husband of 1st Mary Elizabeth Crowder, 2nd Ursula Caroline Crowder and 3rd Mary Thomas Hammock. He was the father of 18 children and outlived 5 of those children. Per his obit, he was born in DeKalb County, Georgia. Wiley brought his young family to Houston County in 1851 to be the overseer for Hugh Lawson's plantation Pine Retreat. He joined the Confederate cause Aug 4, 1863 in Perry, Ga. being signed up by Capt. Brown for 6 months, He had a horse valued at $250 and was present and detailed on Plantation listed as sergeant. He later joined "Joe Brown's Army, the Home Guard" Co G, 8th Regiment Silver Greys, C.D. Anderson's Brigade, Smith's Division State Troopers organized June 1964 Disbanded May 1865 Wiley Leverett was a member at that time. He was active in Democratic politics in Houston County. Wiley Leverett qualified for office (Tax) Feb. 6, 1892 and took office Jan. 9, 1893 - office R.T.R. Apparently he stayed in this office until October/November 1896 when C.D. Anderson was listed. He also farmed the land located around the family cemetery (near Centerville, Houston County, Georgia) and was living on that property when he died.
