Kathern “Kate” Wolfe Ash, 90, of Kunst Dr., Weston passed away peacefully at 8:26 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Crestview Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jane Lew, where she had been a resident since 2010.

She was born in Gilmer County on June 9, 1926 a daughter of the late Harley Howe Wolfe and Eva Powell Wolfe.

On June 10, 1946 she married Guy Hewitt Ash, Jr. and they celebrated 35 years of marriage before his passing on May 26, 1982.

Her sweet, understanding nature will be carried on by her son, Steven Michael Ash and wife, Victoria, of Tallahassee, FL; two grandchildren: Steven Bartley Ash and wife, Shannon, and Christopher Ian Ash and wife, Sally, all of Tallahassee, FL; one sister, Frances Kessler of Lady Lake, FL; two step grandchildren: Katherine Cook Wagner and husband, Todd, and Kris Bourgeois; five great grandchildren” Steven Cason Ash, Austen Kathern Ash, Hendrix Owen Ash, Tess Virginia Boring, and Phoebe Cook Boring; one great-great grandchild, Steven Jackson Ash; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Micklich Ash of Colorado; and 24 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Blair Ash; five siblings: Nancy Barton, Lloyd George Wolfe, Madge Wilson, Ruth Williams, and Harley Howe Wolfe, Jr.; and four nieces and nephews.

Kate graduated from Glenville High School and became a loving and devoted homemaker and fabulous cook. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston, where she attended faithfully since 1965. She was a member of the choir, and performed various other services for the church she loved. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and collecting teddy bears and souvenir bells from her travels.

Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery in Gilmer County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Weston (please designate for the Tools For Ministry Campaign) at 132 2nd St. Weston, WV 26452.
