Joyce Mae Edeburn Dixon , 87, Amboy, W.Va., died on Saturday May 6, 2017, at Cortland Acres, Thomas, W.Va., where she was a resident since January.

A daughter of the late Herbert and Dottie Stemple Ede-burn, she was born on Dec. 30, 1929, at Coketon, W.Va., near Thomas, W.Va.

She loved the community in which she lived, and was active in community activities.

She attended Amboy United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her favorite times were when she could gather her family, relatives, and friends together for family dinners.

She loved reading, tending her flower gardens, feeding the birds, and chasing the squirrels away from the bird feeders.

Joyce will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, David E. and Virginia Dixon and Michael F. and Leona Dixon , all of Amboy, and Gary B. and Cheryl Dixon , Farmington, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Scott Dixon and spouse Lisa, Lori Rodeheaver, Shane, Jonathan and spouse Jennifer, William M. Dixon , and Chad and Gretchen Baker; eight great-grandchildren, Chase and Bryson Rodeheaver, Darrius and Landon Dillard, and Tristan, Bryson, Austin, and Brooklyn Baker; four great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Lisa Poland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William "Bill" Dixon ; and a granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Dixon .

She was the last surviving member of her parents' children, which included five brothers and four sisters.

Family and friends were received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, W.Va., where a service was held on Tuesday, May 9, with Rev. Michael Lantz officiating.

Burial followed in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amboy United Methodist Church, c/o Patty Myers, 1135 Aurora Pike, Aurora, WV 26705.
