She was born on September 29, 1924 in Wabeno to Ed and
Myrtle (Christinsin) Sederstrom.
As a young girl, Nora’s family resided in Laona.
After her graduation from the Laona High School in 1942,
she moved to Milwaukee. It is there where she married
Michael Lempel on April 13, 1945. He preceded herin death
on September 4, 1995. In 1951 the couple moved to Laona.
Nora was one of the first women to work on the mill floor at
Conors. She held many positions there. After the mill
closed, Nora began working at Nu-Roc Nursing Home as a
nurse’s aid. She retired when she turned 81.
Nora was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church
in Laona. She was very active in the Ladies Aid, and served
as treasurer. She also served as treasurer for the Lions Club
Auxiliary. Nora loved to read, knit, crochet, and watch the
birds.
Nora is survived by a daughter, Diana Novak of
Kaukauna; a son, Dennis (Carol) of Laona; and
grandchildren, Noreen Novak of Naples, FL, Keith Novak of
Little Chute, and Michael Lempel of Laona. She is further
survived by five great-grandchildren. Nora
was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters, two
brothers, and a granddaughter, Nancy.
Funeral services for Nora were held at 11 a.m. on
Wednesday, July 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Laona
with Rev. Kyle Verage officiating. Visitation was from 10
a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial was in the
Laona Cemetery. Weber-Hill Funeral Home is assisting the
