Charles Meyers
Charles Martin Meyers, 83, of 309 w. Seventh St., died at his home yesterday morning unexpectedly. He was a native of Sterling, Neb. And came to Antioch 69 years ago.
He began work with the First and L St division of Fibreboard Corporation in 1902. He retired in March 1953; at that time he was the Board Mill superintendent.
Mr. Meyers was a member of Antioch Lodge 175 F.&A.M., Oakland Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies and Islam Temple of the Shrine, San Francisco. He was member of Past Patron (1940) of Ariel Chapter 42, Order of Eastern Star in Antioch.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred Cakebread Meyers; two sons, two daughters; one brother, Ernest R. of Antioch; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Brown of Summer, Wash., Mrs. Lena Miller of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Bertha Hicks of Fremont, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Masonic services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Higgens Funeral Home, under the auspices of Antioch Lodge 175, F.& A.M. with the Rev. Oscar G. Gibson, minister emeritus of Antioch Methodist Church, participating.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Mausoleum in Berkeley.
