In 1932, Genevieve was elected president of the Jamaica Auxiliary VFW and the following year headed the county auxiliary. In 1936 she was chosen for the state committee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary. For the past 13 years she had been prominent in work for the care and rehabilitation of war vets and their families.

She died at Hamilton Hospital after an operation for appendicitis.

Survived by her husband, Clyde, whom she married Nov 1, 1924 in New York, her son Raymond, her mother Jennie Challis and 6 sisters and 7 brothers.
