LACY, Mary Ellen (nee Carter) of Waynesville, passed away May 24, 2017 at her home. Mary Ellen celebrated her 100th Birthday on January 3, 2017 with family and friends. She so appreciated the shower of cards she received from former students, friends, and family. Mary Ellen retired in 1985 after teaching 27 years for Wayne Local Schools. She was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church and the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority. She enjoyed many years of traveling, collecting Ohio post cards, gardening, antiquing, reading, participating in a challenging/spirited game of Scramble, and time spent with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1980; one son Thomas Lacy; her parents Alonzo and Cordelia Carter; and eight siblings Macey Carey, Elosie Davis, Daisy Allread, Margie Carter, Martha Hoffer, Joe Carter, Marion Carter, and Raymond Carter. She is survived by one son Charles (Anne) Lacy; seven grandchildren Peter, Ellen, Karen, Schuyler, Jake, Hannah, and Caitlin; 17 great grandchildren; eight siblings Bill (Betty) Carter, Glen (Mary) Carter, Bob (Carol) Carter, Jim Carter, Donna (Leonard) Greene, Pauline Martin, Alice (Bob) Morris, and Jane Masters; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and funeral arrangements will be updated soon. Dennis Bunnell will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to the Mary L.
