HOFFER, Martha C. age 77 of Spring Valley passed away Mon. April 11, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. Martha retired from Xenia City Schools after 24 years of service. She was a member of the Spring Valley United Methodist Church and greatly enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother Joe Carter and three sisters Margie Carter, Daisy Allread, and Elsie Davis. She is survived by her husband Dennis "Wade", married 58 years; four sons Dennis J. of Dublin, Donald "Card" (Sandy) of Spring Valley, Daniel (Joyce) of Xenia, and Michael Hoffer of KY; three daughters Marjorie "Elaine" Layne of Jamestown, Miriam "Faye" (Gary) Burtch of Jamestown, and Mary Alice (Mike) Waggoner of Xenia; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; six brothers Ray (Dorothy) Carter of Jamestown, Bill (Betty) Carter of Jamestown, Marion (Dolores) Carter of Waynesville, Glen (Mary) Carter of Waynesville, Bob (Carolyn) Carter of TN, and Charles "Jim" Carter of Spring Valley; six sisters Macey Carey of Wilmington, Mary Ellen Lacy of Waynesville, Pauline (Charles) Martin of Waynesville, Donna (Leonard) Greene of AZ, Alice (Bob) Morris of Kettering, and Jane Masters of Bellbrook; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services 10:00 A.M. Fri. April 15 at STUBBS-CONNER FUNERAL HOME, Waynesville. Burial Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington. The family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Thurs. at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Carter Memorial.
