Services for Lessie Conner Davis, 95, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Park with Mr. Bob Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Lessie Conner Davis passed away May 27, 2017. She was born October 11, 1921 in the Ora Community in Angelina County and was the daughter of the late Audrey (Thomas) and Robert (Bob) Conner. Mrs. Davis was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She retired from Lufkin Independent School District food service following 23 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and working in her flower beds. Mrs. Davis was always eager to help others in need. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie R. and Phyllis Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Gary Rodrigue, all of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Lita Hazel and Harold Vaughan of Paris; sister and brother-in-law, Merlene and Grant Alexander of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren, Tisha Morris and Cindy Smith of Lufkin, Tony Pruett of Texarkana and Jeremy Pruett of Cypress; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Dorothy Morehead; and a number of nieces and nephews and close friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, John W. Davis; 8 brothers; and 4 sisters. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to service time at 11:00 a.m. at Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel. Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
