A Rosary service was held at 8 p.m. Sunday evening, September 19, 1954, at her home, 833 Main Street, Lake Placid, New York, for Mrs. Alice Devlin Hovey. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, September 20, in St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Michael J. Kelly officiating.
Mrs. Hovey, 61, died Thursday evening, September 16, 1954, at Placid Memorial Hospital. Born at Jay, New York, February 20, 1893, the daughter of Arthur and Bridget Hurley Devlin, she had lived in Jay for many years and at Lake Placid approximately 35 years.
She Was survived by her husband, William E. Hovey, sr.; a son, William E. Hovey, jr., of Lake Placid; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Steaks of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Henry Brown of Mineola, Long Island, and three brothers, J. Vernon Devlin and Hurley Devlin, both of Lake Placid, and Mark Devlin of Jay.
