Mrs. Clara Williams Tanner, 86, of 104 The Parkway, died in Memorial Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Josiah B. and Mary Hardy Williams and wife of the late Prof. John H. Tanner, Mathematics Department, Cornell University.

Mrs. Tanner was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Miss Augusta H. Williams and Mrs. Jared T. Newman, both of Ithaca; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The funeral service was held in the First Presbyterian Church.
