Marilyn was a dedicated mother of four providing loving guidance and direction in the early years where it counted most to be home. Then, she taught as a Teacher's Aide in the public elementary schools of Orange for 12 years and loved helping children most of all. She loved gardening and planning her landscaping and made quite a study of plant types and names. She was quite active in her United Methodist Women organization and in her Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni OC Association. After retirement, Marilyn and Dick traveled frequently throughout the world and also pursued their love of trailer camping trips. Her four children and ten grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed cheering them on in their many activities and sports teams. At her bedside at death were her daughters, their husbands and many Grandchildren.
Marilyn and Dick's son, Gregory, preceded her in death. Marilyn is survived by Dick, her husband of 58 years, daughters (spouses) Sharon Johns (Allan), Cheryl Lick (Joe), and Rebecca Freeman (David), Sister and Brother-in-Law, Laura and Bob Fukada, Grandchildren, in order, Steven Johns (Danielle), Bethany Douglas (Joey), Taylor Johns, Lt. Benjamin Lick, USN, Gracia Platt (Fred), Jacob Lick, Aaron Freeman, Caleb Lick, Abigail Freeman and Samuel Freeman.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Orange Methodist Foundation will provide a perpetual charitable working gift.
