Lou's parents are Ephram A Kea and Permelia Lee. He was the only child of this marriage. After Ephram's Civil War Death - May 5, 1864, Battle of the Wilderness, Wilderness, Virginia Permelia married David A P Lee. Two girls were born during this marriage, Martha, 1868 and Mary, 1870, Lou Kea's half sisters. (In further research we have discovered that Permelia Lee, Ephram A Kea and David A P Lee were all first cousins). Also, on an 1880 census, Martha and Mary Lee are living with David Lee's sister, Martha Corder in Carroll County, Mississippi.

On an 1880 Calhoun County, Mississippi document, he is 19 years old and states he is "orphaned". Additionally that he attended public school at "Wards Mill", Mississippi.

He first married first married Isabella Parker in Calhoun County, Mississippi. One daughter was born during this marriage, Sarah Isabelle Kea (1883-1964).

He brought his young daughter, Sarah, to Arkansas ca 1887. Lou and Isabella's brother, John Riley Parker were lifelong friends. John Parker migrated with Lou to Arkansas.

He second married Virginia Belle Howton, November 8, 1888 at Mazarn, Montgomery County, Arkansas. Their children are Bertha Zula, Austin Vernon, Syble Gertrude, Felix Lynn, Franklin Gordon, Elaine Cristeen and Gilbert Lawrence Kea.
