She died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany. She was born on February 4, 1917 in Leitchfield, KY, the daughter of Roscoe and Corda Ethel Burba Alvey. She is survived by her son, Joseph E. Hinton and his wife, Angie, his mother being an avid basketball fan as well, Joe was also her favorite coach. She followed all of the local teams while at home and followed her soaps with her granddaughter, Leslee. She was a past member of the old Evangelical United Brethren Church in Georgetown, IN, where she was a choir member. She was mostly a stay at home mom, she did work at the old Charlestown Ammunition Plant and made several friends there. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 480 in Georgetown for 46 years. Delores is also survived by her loving sister, Pauline Haynes of Elizabethtown, KY, and she is special to the family. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Brian Hinton and his wife, Linda and Leslee Shaffer and her husband, Steve, both of Corydon, IN, Patty Johnson and her husband, David, Hazard, KY, Mary Hinton, New Albany, IN, Joseph B. Thanks to all the people who overwhelmed her with cards on her past birthday. Her niece Brenda played a huge part in this. Mom was so elated that she had so many friends. Thanks also to her friend Leola Oster for getting her to participate in Bunco recently. You all really made her feel good. Her club was started in 1959. Many thanks to my wife Angie for sitting and talking to her in the Hospital. And finally to my daughter Leslee for becoming one of Mom's best friends. Like my sister Joyce, Leslee is an angel on earth. Mom loved her. "Dad and Sis, please welcome Mom into heaven." Visitation at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown will be Saturday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Monday. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Memory of her daughter Joyce Herthel.
