In 1948, she graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She retired as a Senior Financial Analyst from Chrysler Corporation after more than 30 years of service. She was a founding member of the Delco Ballroom Dance Club in 1966, along with her husband Richard E. Thomas. She was also a founding member of the Women Investing for Self-Education (W.I.S.E.). Dixie was an avid bridge player and enjoyed knitting.
Survivors include a daughter, Taunee Boudreau and husband Rick of Kokomo; son, Richard L. Thomas and wife Cindy (née Springer) of Kokomo; daughter, Lisa Thomas of Indianapolis; grandson, Louis Boudreau of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Maggie (née Thomas) Rawls and husband Brad of Lafayette; and three great-grandchildren, Sophie, Liam, and Owen Rawls, all of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hubert Johnston, and a sister, Jennetta Williams.
Dixie’s wishes were to be cremated. A private burial of cremated remains will take place in Albright Cemetery on a later date. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
