PIONEER RESIDENT DEAD - Mrs. J. C. Shelton Dies at Home, Six Miles East Of City
Mrs. Eliza Jane Shelton , wife of J C Shelton, who had been a resident of this county since she was two years old, died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock at her home, six miles east of the city. Mrs. Shelton had suffered with chronic asthma for several years and a few days before her death she suffered several bronchial hemorrhages but the direct cause of her death was due to an uremic condition which set in.
Mrs. Shelton was born Waltz In Madison County Indiana, July 20, 1855 and came with her parents to this county when she was a small child. Sept 11, 1881, she was married to Mr. Shelton and to them were born seven children. One died in infancy and the reminder survive their mother. They are Ralph Shelton of LeGrand; Ben Shelton of State center; Mrs. Charles (Rosa) Specht and Mrs. Tory (Bessie) Langland of this city; Mrs. Lee (Nellie) Boswell of Green Mountain and Miss Lela Shelton, who lives at home. Three sisters also survive Mrs. Mary Leach of Laurens; Mrs. Alice W. L. Hollenbeck of this city and Mrs. Alice Lowery, Webster, Kan. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Friends Church in LeGrand.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Iowa Valley church , which will be open at 2 o'clock.
