Herman was born in Germany in 1846. In 1872, he married Katherine Mahoney (1850-1928). They resided in Newport, Ky and had three daughters: Katherine Kate (Mackless) Mahoney (1873-1901)wife of Jerry Mahoney; Mary (Mackless) Bogart (1879-1956)wife of Wesley Bogart; and Anna (Mackless) Brauch (1875-1952) wife of Charles Brauch). Herman died in Newport, campbell County, Ky. on October 24, 1900 of Bright's Disease. He is buried in an unmarked grave along side of his wife, Katherine Mahoney Mackless (1850-1928)(unmarked grave) His daughter Katherine Katie Mackless Mahoney (1873-1901) (unmarked grave) and his daughter Anna Brauch (1875-1952) (headstone)and his grand daughter Mary C Brauch Fox (1919-1970) (headstone) are also buried near him. Herman's daughter Mary Mackless Bogart is buried in Evergreen Cemetery with her husband Wesley Bogart. According to St. Stephen Burial Records, Grave 1 contains Anna Mackless Brauch *and* her sister Mary Mackless Bogart's 6 mo. old baby, Helen Bogart (1 Feb 1918-19 Aug 1918). Grave 2 contains Mary C. Brauch Fox (daughter of Anna Brauch) *and* Mary Mackless Bogart's 6 mo. old babies Evelyn & Catherine Bogart (birth & death dates not recorded by cemetery) * as well as* Mary Mackless Bogart's 6 mo. old baby Hester Bogart (7 April 1919-16 Oct 1919). Several unmarked graves.
