Haji Garabed Achikbashian of Arapkir was a respected man and noted merchant. He had the title Haji for making the pilgrimage to Jerusalem. His son Aram became a notable Ottoman-Armenian politician who was executed at the start of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. It is believed he was married twice, first to Vartouhi Gureghian with whom he had two sons, Arakel and Sarkis. After her death he married Mariam Alyanakian, with whom he had four sons Pilibos, Krikor (later known as Aram), Nishan, and Souren and two daughters Haji Gul and Hripsime. It is unknown when Garabed died.
