Roger MacArthur Ballard, 75, of Beckley passed away on July 7, 2017 due to a long illness. Born May 15, 1942, in Saxon, he was the son of Rhodes "Melvin" Ballard (1871-1952) and Harriet "Eva" Aliff-Ballard-Reed (1914-1994).
Roger attended Harper Heights Church, enjoyed restoring old cars and talking to old friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, June Lee Bell-Ballard (B. 1945) whom he married on August 6, 1964 in Cool Ridge, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1964, Page 68, Application Date: August 3, 1964); sons, Roger Dale Ballard and wife Tammy Ballard, Jeffery Scott Ballard, and Brad Allen Ballard; grandchildren, Tara Lynn, Ryan Scott, Andrew Tre and Eva Cherie; great granddaughter, Ella Grace.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
