Gilbert Gray of Swordale and Skibo was for many years Chanter of Caithness, and was served heir to John, his father, in the lands of Ospisdale on 23 June 1597. He was the ancestor of the Grays of Arboll, Newton, Creich, Rogart, and other families. He was buried in the same sepulchre as his father. He was succeeded by his eldest son, George Gray of Cuttle.
