Bob (Robert) Bayer was born on May 10, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and passed away June 29, 2017, at home in Ventura from congestive heart failure with his beloved family at his side.

Bob attended the University of Manitoba (U of M) prior to meeting his future wife, Cindy, in 1951. They met at a High School dance and at first sight he told Cindy he was going to marry her. They were married on April 28, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Belgian Church. Their first daughter Julie was born in 1957 and the following year they immigrated to Oxnard, California. Their daughter Barbara was born in 1959 and son Bob in 1960. In 1967, Bob and Cindy became United States Citizens.

Bob began his 18 year career with Prudential Insurance Company and achieved the goal of Million Dollar Producer frequently. In 1981, Bob was fortunate to be able to turn his favorite hobby into a thriving golf business, the Camarillo Golf Shop. On a daily basis he was able to live his dream and experience the passion he felt for golf, and in doing so, developed a network of friends and customers from around the world.

Bob designed and crafted his own line of golf clubs, called Accura. In 1987 the Louisville Golf Company recognized Bob as one of six premier custom clubmakers and presented him with their most prestigious award -the Masters Club. He was selected from more than 2,000 clubmakers throughout the US and Canada.

The highlight of Bob's golf career was in 1983 when he opened his Thousand Oaks store with his son Bob, and the "Bogey Bob's Golf" name was created. The partnership flourished until 1999 when Bob, Sr. retired. The Bogey Bob's Discount Golf Shop in Newbury Park remains open to this day.

Bob was a history buff, avid reader, and master builder. He was well read and versed in world history, specifically historical leaders. In retirement, his enthusiasm for aviation history evolved into building historical aircraft models. He hand built nearly 100 historically accurate models from blueprints and in doing so it inspired him to create his own airplane parts.

Mr. "B" was known for coaching basketball to all the neighborhood children and being a fatherly mentor. As a father to his own children, he encouraged and guided them to become responsible, productive, honest and proud United States citizens. During his Hawaiian golf pilgrimages, Bob's affinity for the Aloha spirit was reaffirmed; for nothing was more important to him than "Ohana."

Bob is survived by his wife, Cindy and his three children, Julie Goneau (John Goneau), Barbara Coulter (Tom Coulter) and Bob Bayer. He has seven grandchildren, Jessica Scott (Glenn Scott), Matt Coulter, Carley LaSecla (Christian LaSecla), Grace Coulter, Sean Bayer, Cody Bayer, and Ryan Bayer and three great grandchildren, Brody and Lucy Scott and Madison LaSecla.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, July 10, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, in Ventura. A Luncheon will follow at Marie Callender's, in the private banquet room, 1295 S. Victoria Avenue,
Ventura.
