Funeral service for Minister Carey White, Sr., 59, of Freeport will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Freeport with Pastor Donnell Johnson eulogist and Bishop T.H. Higgins, III officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

He passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his residence.

He was an associate minister at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Carey attended schools in the Brazosport Independent School District and graduated from Brazosport High School Class of “76”. He later moved to Oakland CA where he attended Merritt College where he played football from 1976 to 1978. He moved back to Freeport and worked for ILA Longshoreman with Local 30 for 20 years. He was a Forman and Crane Operator. He loved fishing, playing dominoes, ping pong and cooking.
Carey was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Law, Sr. and Dorothy Lee White; sister, Faye Maxine Moses and brother, Robert Lee Shepard.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Pattie White, Freeport; son, Carey D. White, Jr., Missouri City; step-sons, Sandy Quiller (Cynthia), Iowa Colony and Alvin Dean Jones, Freeport; brothers, Larry “Odell” Moses (Janie), Atlanta, Georgia and Roosevelt Law, Jr., Houston sisters, Katie Hinds (Gordon), Freeport and Lisa Blair (Frank), Pearland; father-in-law, Rayfield Bell, Sr., Brazoria; mother-in-law, Dolores Butler, Freeport; sisters-in-law, Rolanda Fields (Bennett), Brazoria, Tishia Bell, Lake Jackson and Scarlet Shepard, Oakland, California; brothers-in-law, Raymond Butler and Rayfield Bell, Jr. both of Houston, Kenneth Bell, Brazoria, Melvin Bell (Lennette), Clute, Craig Bell, Lake Jackson and Derrick Bell, Danciger; grand-daughters, Caliyah and Kaylee White and step-granddaughter who he was rearing, Amia James; 11 step grandchildren; god-daughter, Britene Montiel; god-son, Arthur Tyrone Ward, Jr and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Clifford Fletcher, Eddie Lewis, Michael Harris, Tommy Jammer, Reginald Williams, Walter Jammer, Sylvester Washington and Patrick Taylor.

Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church the same day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
