Betty "Helen" Thoni, 61, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2006.

She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Helen was an avid gardener, and especially loved orchids.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell C. Shaw.

Helen is survived by her mother, Alesa Shaw, Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Julie Rembiszewski, Hixson; son, James Thoni USAF, TSGT, Ellsworth, SD; five brothers, Hershel Shaw, Elizabethtown, IN, Harold Shaw, Huntsville, AL, Larry Shaw, Decatur, AL, Gary Shaw, Killeen, TX and Bruce Shaw, Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Linda Morrison, Toledo, OH and Brenda Power, Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Amanda Nickel, Samantha Nickel, Joshua Kimbrough, Katelyn "Bug" Rembiszewski, all of Hixson and Nicholas Hamabata of Hawaii; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Lockhart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
