Robert "Bob" Broske, age 70, of Northfield, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Reflections End of Life Center. Robert was born March 6, 1947, the son of Lewis and Gladys (Nephew) Broske in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised in Fertile, Minnesota and graduated in 1965. While in high school, Bob participated in wrestling and competed in the state high school tournament. After high school, he served during the Vietnam War with the United States Army from 1966 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1968 from Fort Riley. He married Jane Volkert in 1970 and the couple had two sons, CT and John. In his lifetime, Bob worked for Brockway Glass in Rosemount, Cannon Valley Coop, farmed and retired from McQuay (Daikin) in Faribault after 25 years. Bob married Pauline Barnett on June 20, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Northfield. Bob enjoyed gardening and sold produce at the Northfield and Faribault Farmers Markets for over 20 years. He was a member of the Dundas Jaycee's, the Northfield American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church. He took up playing the guitar and enjoyed playing at family gatherings. He loved playing a good game of cards and most of all his beloved dogs Sophie and Sally. He was a collector of guns, coins, clocks and antiques. He will be remembered for his quick wit and good-mannered sarcasm along with being thrifty and as a hard worker. He is survived by his wife Pauline, two sons CT, John (Georgia), stepchildren Victoria (Chris) Stone, Katherine (Randy) Moss, Jacqueline (Steve) Lund, Randy (Bridget) Willer, grandchildren Kaitlyn and Gwen Broske, step grandchildren Jamie, Grace, Jack and Ben Willer, Hallie Moss, Amber and David Stone, Sarah and Steven Lund, sisters Louise (Walter) Michaels, Barbara Sharp and nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Gladys, brother Ray and his wife Lillian, and brother-in-law James Sharp. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 30, 2017, at 2 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Armand Boehme officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, from 2 PM to 5 PM at Bierman Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at Northfield Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Northfield American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.
