Investigative Journalist, New York Times best-selling author, Researcher, Educator, Editorial Cartoonist. Known as one of the most famous investigators of the John F Kennedy assassination and subsequently more as a prolific conspiracy researcher on a wide variety of topics. He was born James Farrell Marrs, Jr to devout Baptist parents: James Farrell Marrs, a structural steel vendor and Pauline Draper, a novelist. Early in his career while attending the Universities of North Texas(B.A. 1966) and graduate school at Texas Tech, Lubbock(1967-68)) earning a degree in journalism, he served as a reporter for the Fort Worth Star Telegram amongst several other newspapers. He had met Jack Ruby(who on live television shot Lee Harvey Oswald; having visited his night club the month before the JFK assassination, of which the events of that time partly set the stage for the remainder of his career. After college, he served with the Fourth Army intelligence Unit during the Vietnam War becoming a military and aerospace writer; thus expanding his interest in the world of secrecy. He later served as adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington from 1976 to 2007, teaching a course on the JFK assassination and while there, was also probably the first to teach a course on UFO's at the college level(2000-2007). In addition to his numerous interviews, lectures and articles, he was a five time New York Times best-selling author. Some of his more popular books included the critically acclaimed "Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy"(1989) which served as a basis for the Oliver Stone movie "JFK"(1991) reaching the New York Times Non-Fiction Best Seller List, "Alien Agenda"(1997) a non-fictional UFO worldwide top seller, "Rule By Secrecy"(2000), "Above Top Secret"(2008) and "The Rise of the Fourth Reich"(2008). In 1993, Marrs received Freedom Magazine's Human Rights Leadership Award. He was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award from JFK Lancer in 2008 and from the Conscious Life Expo in 2015. As a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, he was awarded their 50-year pin in 2017. He was former president of the Press Club of Fort Worth. Jim Marrs, Jr is listed both in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his home after a brief illness at age 73.
