He was left an orphan at the age of thirteen, and after a few years came to the United States to seek his fortune. He landed in Louisiana, where in 1849, he was married to Miss Bridget Murray, to which union three children were born, one son and two daughters, two of whom are left to mourn the loss, Mrs. Heffran and Miss Kate, both of this place, the son dying in infancy.

In 1886 he moved to Wichita from Indiana. Until recently he was employed by the city. Two years ago death claimed his wife.
