JO ALBRIGHT Jo Albright of Orland passed away at the age of 80 on July 27, 2017. Jo went to Heaven peacefully at the Paradise Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Jo was born September 29, 1936 to Joseph and Anna Bowen. She grew up with her beloved sister Jean in Sidney Ohio and graduated from Sidney High in 1954. Jo graduated from Ohio State University in 1958 where she was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Jo graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene but spent most of her life career as mother and homemaker. Jo joined the Navy after college and was stationed at Treasure Island Naval Station. It was there that she met her future husband Don Albright an officer in the Marines. They married in 1963 and celebrated their 41st anniversary prior to Don's death in 2004. Don's banking career took them to many places to live including Yuba City, Modesto, Sacramento, Gridley, Davis and finally Chico. Jo finally settled in Orland near her daughter. Jo was a bright light bringing joy and laughter everywhere she went. She leaves behind many friends. Jo played the piano and organ for her church in every town she lived in. She also sang in her church choir. Most recently she played for the Lutheran church in Orland. She also volunteered her piano playing skills at local schools and nursing homes. Jo played bells in the Orland Federated Church bell choir. She loved music. Jo also loved to read and the Orland Public Library was one of her favorite places in town. Jo leaves behind her daughter Lori Silva of Orland and her 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Isabella and Ian Silva. She also leaves her nieces Jenny West Kearns, Julie West and their children and nephew Joel West all on the east coast. Jo was looking forward to reuniting with her husband Don and being a mom to their son Michael who was killed by a speeding car in 1973. They have a lot of catching up to do. She also greatly missed her sister Jean West and son-in-law Brett Silva who was killed in January 2017. A celebration of Jo's life will be held at the Orland Lutheran Church at 10 AM Thursday August 17th. A short reception and graveside military service at the Orland Cemetary will follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to an education fund set up for Jo's grandchildren after the loss of their father. Donations can be sent to FD Sweet & Son Mortuary 820 A Street Orland CA 95963.
