MRS. AGNES A.S. AKERS
Mrs. Agnes A. Smith Akers, 72, of 411 Chestnut St., South Charleston, died Sept. 14, 1992, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.
She was a retired store detective for Ames Department Stores and a former employee of Dunbar Glass, Cohen Drug and Rite Aid.
She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, American Legion Auxiliary and the West Virginia Fraternal Order of Police, Sheriff's Association and Deputy Sheriffs Association. She was a 35-year resident of South Charleston.
Surviving: husband, Albert G. "Pete" Akers; sons, Warren Daniel Hunt of St. Albans, Jesse Owen Akers of South Charleston; daughters, Donna Lee Casto of South Charleston, Barbara Jean Fandrey-Ahlers of Houston, Patricia Ann Turkett of Charleston, Linda Lea Southall of Covington, Va.; brothers, Cavlin C. Smith of Dunbar, Elmer Smith of Fairmont; sisters, Audra Burroughs of Richwood, Ada Unrue, Anna Fisher and Frances Withrow, all of Dunbar, Alice Moody of Nitro, Virginia Ruth Jacobs of Teays Valley; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
