Eleanor attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1943 and then passed the Colorado State Board of Nursing. She joined the American Red Cross Nurses in 1943 and enlisted in the Navy Nurses Corp. in which she was called to active duty on May 10, 1944 and remained with the Navy as a nurse until July 1946. While active with the Navy, Eleanor received the WWII Victory Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon. Eleanor was an office nurse from 1947 until 1977 for Isadore Gersh, M.D. In 1977, she worked for the City and County of Denver as a secretary until retirement in 1988.
