Solomon Levy, born "Sielé Levy" at Hellimer, France, on 3 March 1807, died at New Orleans, Louisiana, on 19 November 1875. His wife, Emilie, born Emélie Kahn on 4 September 1811 at Fénétrange, France, survived him, as did three of their nine children: Felix U. Levy, Rosa (Levy) Beer, and Samuel L. Levy.

"Friends and acquaintances, also those of Mr. Felix U. Levy…and Rudolphe Beer, his son-in-law," were "respectfully invited to attend" his funeral, to be held from "his late residence, 166 Felicity Road, between Camp and Magazine streets," on Sunday, 21 November 1875.

Note: The /Picayune/ requested that newspapers in Franklin, Louisiana, "please copy" Mr. Levy's obituary."
