He was an important Catalan philologist and fonetista. He was secretary-editor of the Philological Section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans where he directed the first Experimental Phonetics Laboratory. From 1918 he devoted himself to speech therapy, first as technical director of the Municipal School of Deafnesses of Barcelona and later in the Laboratory of the Word where he applied experimental phonetics to correct different language disorders.
