Jung, Arlette L.

Arlette L. Jung, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls.

Arlette was born on February 27, 1924 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Edna Brown Hoffman. Arlette attended First German Ev. Lutheran Parochial School, Washington Junior High School and was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. She had been employed at Henderson and Hoyt following high school. During World War II Arlette went to Washington D.C. and worked at the Pentagon. On July 28, 1947 she married Elwood "Woody" Jung at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2011. Arlette had been a former member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and at the present time was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc where she was a member and past President of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Twenty Gardeners Garden Club having served as President and head of the yearbook club along with being the District Chairman. Arlette and her two sisters, Luella and Arvilla, formed a singing group known as the Sunshine Sisters which performed on the WOMT Radio Station for several years. She loved to play cards and was an avid Bridge player belonging to several card clubs, some lasting over a period of 60 consecutive years.

She is survived by her son: Kevin (Gail) Jung, Buford, GA; one sister: Luella Feyersen, Manitowoc; special niece and her husband: Susan and Ned Schroeder, Manitowoc, along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Arlette was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Edna Hoffman; her husband: Elwood "Woody" Jung; two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services for relatives and friends will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on North 18th Street, Manitowoc, at 1:30 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017. Officiating will be Rev. Zachary DeArmond. Relatives and friends who plan on attending should meet at Evergreen Cemetery's main entrance on North 18th Street by the historic sexton's house at 1:20 prior to the graveside services to be held at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel in Manitowoc.
