EDWARD BROECKERT, JR.
(1936 - 2013)

Edward W. Broeckert, age 90, a St. Nazianz resident, died on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein.

Eddie was born on May 31, 1923 in St. Nazianz, son of the late Edward and Clara (Gutman) Broeckert Sr. He graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1941. On June 20, 1959 he married the former Mary Ellen Braun at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Eddie was part owner of Broeckert Brothers Garage. He was a volunteer and charter member for both the St. Nazianz Fire Department for 46 years and the American Legion with the Wagner-Eberle-Sukowaty Post 477 of St. Nazianz. Eddie was a Catholic Forester as well as a member of St. Gregory Parish in St. Nazianz.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Ellen; two daughters and sons-in-law: Pamela and Brian Hartlaub, Peggy and Dean Benvenuto, all of Kiel; two grandchildren: Brian Hartlaub and Brenda (Jack) Valukas; two great grandchildren: Gavin Hartlaub and Bryce Valukas; two brothers: Bernard (Ruth) Broeckert, Manitowoc, Roman (Eleanor) Broeckert, St. Nazianz; one sister: Tillie Scharenbroch, Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law: Darlene Christel, Reedsville, Betsy (Eugene) Reindl, Whitelaw; three godchildren: Mark Scharenbroch, Colleen Haas and Ann Pindol. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Alphonse Broeckert, Rembert (Angie) Broeckert and Art (Joan) Broeckert; two sisters: Hilary (Norbert) Seipel, Sister Roman O.S.F.; two brothers-in-law: Andy Scharenbroch and Dick Christel; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Rosanne and Roman Heinzen; and one godchild: Bill Christel.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and private family services will be held. Eddie's cremated remains will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Cemetery, St. Nazianz.
