A Cedar Rapids resident for more than 30 years, he had resided in El Paso since retiring in 1987.
"My Father was a man who put his family first, who worked hard all his life and who served both his community and his country. We will miss my Father enormously, but will always carry with us the memory of his charm, his intellect, his humor and his goodness. For my whole family, I say with pain and sadness in my heart, 'Good-bye old friend."'
Instead of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Joseph K. Shepard.
