Son of Ryōbun Odo, born in Okinawa-ken, Nakagami-gun, Misato-son, aza Awase (present day Okinawa-shi, Awase). Immigrated to the Territory of Hawaiʻi ~1906 and lived in Mana, Kauaʻi where most of his children were born and later moved to Wahiawā on Oʻahu in the late 1920s. Some time in between 1930 and 1940, he moved his family to Honolulu.
